Once they have these downlines with them, then the success of the mult-level marketing starts. These distributors order in bulk to feed down their downlines to sell. These distributors get the product in wholesale prices. The downlines get the products from these distributors for a discounted price and the end consumers buy them at regular prices. So, the whole chain gets their own share. The product goes down the chain and a percentage is earned each time it goes down. This is the basic principle and this is how the business runs and works.

Though, compensation may still vary from one company to another. Some would stick with unilevel plans where the agent earns from commissions based on a specified number of sales. There is also a matrix plan where the downlines would actually come into the picture and different levels of commission come into play. A more controlled matrix plan is called a binary plan wherein only two frontline distributors are allowed to come into play instead of an unlimited number. If the company cannot choose from the available compensation plans, then they just mix and match and this is oftentimes referred to as hybrid plans.

The products you can sell in this type of marketing vary from food and beverage to cosmetics and health products. Some even network herbal products. Whatever the product is, a company can only be successful if they employ the right compensation plan with the right set of people. This is a people business and a successful company in the field of networking is oiled by hardworking people who get their motivation from the money they are earning.
